AFRO MURU BRAND

Founded in 2020 by Murungi Kevin with guidance from his mother, Afro Muru is a Ugandan slow-fashion brand rooted in African symbolism and heritage. Through upcycling and printmaking, it transforms locally sourced fabrics often from secondhand markets like Owino into bold, limited-edition collections blending culture with street style. Its first two collections, Karamoja to the World (KRMJ SS23) and Bahima SS24, narrate stories of identity, ancestry, and tradition. Featured in Guzangs, Kanaiza, AfriqueNoire Magazine, and internationally in PRAZZLE SELECTS 2024, Afro Muru reimagines cultural heritage in a futuristic and sustainable way, envisioning a thriving future for African textile design.
